The airline Spanair has suspended its operations from last Friday night 27th January 2012, which means the cancellation of their flights, and is expected to present bankruptcy proceedings next week. Tens of thousands of passengers are affected and about 2,000 workers are likely to be unemployed.
As explained to Efe company sources, the bankruptcy will be the second step following the suspension of operations. The decision comes after the Government refused Friday to follow the airline after the failure of negotiations to bring a new member of its shareholders.
