Murcia has several features which help providing significant added value. It is positioned as the seventh capital in Spain; it is a big city and has amazing possibilities. It has a first level hotel park, including more than 2.400 beds and its gastronomy is one of the best Spain has to offer. In spite of the chrisis and the fact that 2010 and 2011 have not been the best as regards event planning, the Culture and Tourism Counseling has done an important promotion of the zone.
The profile of the congress visitor in Murcia includes mostly Spanish business people, 30 to 45, attending the event with a partner and coming by his own vehicle. The average stay is three days in a four star hotel which is paid by the company and the estimated expense will be around 230€.
Even though Murcia is not bad positioned as a Spanish destination for business and conferences, there is still much that can be done. Some of these infrastructure problems are still being solved such as the airport availability; so that access to the region does not become a barrier to the organization of meetings and events and foreign companies visiting the city to invest.
