There’s so much to see and do in Barcelona. However, the city could also be your base camp to discover other fascinating places in Catalonia. Just a short distance away you will discover farmhouses that offer services such as accommodation, a restaurant or meeting organization!
The Sumoll, a traditional Catalan restaurant fused with cuisine from the rest of Spain and influences from around the world, sits in the modernist farmhouse Can Gustems. This establishment is located in the Ferré family vineyards (Alt Penedès, a region not far from Barcelona). Thus, as the renowned Ferré i Catasús wine cellar close by, it is not an accident that the restaurant, inaugurated in April 2003, took its name from an autochthonous class of grape. The Sumoll offers an unforgettable gastronomic experience that combines exquisite cuisine with a beautiful scenery and good local wine.
Another farmhouse that deserves a visit is the Masia Can Portell, located in an incomparable setting and far away from the typical working environment. Built in 1917, the architectural style of the building contrasts with a completely remodeled modern interior. The lounges, on three different floors, are arranged for holding all sorts of celebrations, banquets and business meetings. Here you will find the ideal atmosphere for relaxed company meetings!
At Masia Can Portell you will also be able to taste the most exquisite Mediterranean cuisine, inspired by the traditional Catalan cooking. Moreover, only from November to April the Masia also offers calçotadas, a traditional Catalan gastronomic party which gathers around the table family, friends or coworkers with the calçots, a variety of sweet green onion. The traditional Catalan method of cooking the calçots is to grill them over a flaming barbecue wrapped in newspaper. Then, you just have to dip the tender bulbs in a typical romesco sauce. The main purpose of the calçotada is having fun, chatting, drinking wine, and … eating with bibs!
