Established over half a century ago, Relais & Châteaux is an association of the world’s finest hoteliers, chefs and restaurateurs with more than 500 members. Established in about 55 countries, it counts 26 establishments in Spain with 8 of them in Catalonia. The new guide 2012 counts 708 pages full of novelties: new establishments have joined the family including Hotel Neri that, two months ago, has become the first Relais & Chateaux hotel in Barcelona combining echoes of history in a sophisticated and contemporary style.
Hotel Neri is Located in the Pedestrian area in the Gothic quarter, the centre of the old city, between the Plaza de la Catedral and the Plaza Sant Jaume. It is the result of the union between two magnificent palaces during the 18th century. Partially destroyed during the Civil War, it has been renovated by Adolf Florensa in 1958 with a stunning façade looking onto the Plaza Sant Felip Neri. A second courtyard was also created, to provide natural light to the corridors accessing the rooms. All the interiors have been designed by Cristina Gabás, who managed to give all rooms their personality and ambiance. It results a balance between excess and moderation taking you on a unforgettable time travel through art and creativity.
This small XVIII palace counts 22 exclusive rooms distributed on three levels: Standard Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites and the Neri Suites for a maximum space and comfort. All of them are decorated in a different theme from one floor to another with paintings measuring 3 x 1 m.
Neri Restaurant is one of the gastronomic references of Barcelona: an intimate, welcoming place to enjoy Mediterranean creative cuisine. The Chef Benito Iranzo leads this 12th century style restaurant made of a medieval stone wall and two great arches. Its original menu is designed four times a year and adapted to seasonal produces. For long drinks, cocktails or snack menu, the hotel proposes a lounge bar with a great terrace surrounded by impressive tipuanas giving on one of the most charming and representative squares of the city.
All the Neri spaces can be hired for private functions: a breakfast in a Private room and its ideal setting for small events, a business meeting in the library to enjoy its original wood coffering and large windows, a professional dinner in the Boa Space, a real oasis on the top floor, a cocktail in the medieval hall, etc. Everything is possible and personalized on request!
