In 10 days, the fleet of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 will start from Alicante to the port of Cape Town South Africa to complete the first of nine oceanic stages of this edition.
Since the six Volvo Open 70 is installed in the port of Alicante, the activity has not ceased working in the area of equipment. All confirm that the training phase is completed, and have entered the final preparation, but the pace is hectic and it looks like the only thing it will do is keep growing.
The fleet had his first appointment on 7th October, when meeting for the first time in front of a line. This was also a big day for the Spanish Team of Telefónica. The boat was christened by HRH Princess Letizia, in the presence of HRH Don Felipe of Spain.
On 14th October was the official opening of Race Village in Alicante, which will be open to the public until 5th November, with an attractive range of activities for all ages. On 29th October begins the competition of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 with the first In-Port race of the ten that played the fleet until July 2012.
During this year and until 5th November was held the Volvo Ocean Race Legends Regatta and Reunion, a series of activities around the protagonists (ships and sailors) of the 38 years and ten editions of the history of the race.
Finally, on 5th November will kick off the first offshore leg of the eleventh edition of the Volvo Ocean Race from Alicante.
