Tourists will pay to visit the Park Güell (Barcelona)

Have you ever been to the Park Güell?

Park Güell is one of the most popular places in Barcelona. Designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí one century ago, this beautiful park is a ‘must’ for all tourists that come to Barcelona. Aware of this, Barcelona City Council has made an Actuation Plan that will enter into force in October 2013.

The most notable feature of this plan is that the entry into the park will not be free for tourists. It has been decided because Park Güell everyday receives too many people so it is not good both for people who are in the park and for who live in The same area. Just people that live in Barcelona will be able to visit the park for free.

However, there are some associations of the neighborhood that have criticized the new Actuation Plan. They say that the current issues caused by the Park Güell will not be overcome with the fee that will pay the visitors.

Moreover, no more than 900 people will be able to stay in the park at the same time (nowadays there is no limit).

New schedule (varies depending on the season of the year):

-          Autumn/Winter: 8.30am to 6pm.

-          Spring/Summer: 8am to 9pm.
