Barcelona within almost 4,5 million people living at the metropolitan area, is the second largest city in Spain, after Madrid. The urban area of Barcelona, with a population of 1,6 million, is located on the Meditarrean coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs.
Founded as a Roman city, Barcelona became the capital of the county after merging with Kigdom of Aragon and being one of the most important cities of the Crown of Aragon.
