The Spanish restaurant Celler de Can Roca (Girona, Catalonia) has been named as the best restaurant over the world by the British magazine “Restaurant”.
Every year this magazine publishes a list of the best 50 restaurants. This list is considered as the ‘Oscar’ of the gastronomy. The Danish restaurant Noma had been the first of the list in the last three years but this time Celler de Can Roca has reached the top.
Specialized in the Catalan cuisine, Celler de Can Roca is a restaurant located in the city of Girona (Catalonia) leaded by three brothers. Each brother has a special task: Joan looks after the kitchen, Jordi takes charge of the confectionery and Josep is specialist in wine. They come up from a family dedicated to the Catalan traditional cuisine, but they combine it with other free style dishes.
The rest of the list
In the ranking of the 50 best restaurants in the world there are five Spanish Restaurants. Beyond Celler de Can Roca, two of them are also in the top 10: Mugaritz (4th) and Arzak (8th), both from the province of Guipuzcoa.
