June has been a successful month for Spanish tourism. The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has published that Spanish hotels registered 30,8 million overnight stays, 1,75% more than June 2012.
Overnights stays increased due to international travelers, who stayed at Spanish hotels 4,2% more time than last year. However, overnights of national tourists decreased 3’5%.
The increase of stays in hotels in June is a good point for the Spanish tourism sector. The beginning of the year was no good: overnight stays decreased in January, February and May, and this year’s Easter was no such as good as Easter 2012. As a result, overnights stays has decreased 0,7% in the first six months of this year.
