Madrid obtains high marks in the MICE Sector

The city of Madrid has achieved its objectives in the MICE sector. Last year 200 congresses and 117 events took place in the city. All this has become possible mostly due to the work of the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB).

In 2013 Madrid has been the venue of such outstanding events as the Eular (The European League against Rheumatism), which took place in June and gathered 16.000 professionals of the sector. The total revenue of this congress was more tan 17 million of Euros. Apart from the Eular, other important meetings as Microsoft TechED or the Revlon Professional Style Masters Show 2013 have also been celebrated in the Spanish Capital.

Last year the destination “Madrid” was also present in the main MICE international meetings over the world: Imex Frankfurt and EITBM in Barcelona (each of them gathered around 15.000 visitants).

EARLY FUTURE

The aim of the Madrid Convention Bureau for the next years is to maintain Madrid in the ranking of the most chosen cities to hold meetings. To date, the MCB has agreed to help in the organisation of 57 different congresses from this year to 2018. This high number of events will bring 51.000 attendants to the city, which are supposed to spend around 46 million of Euros.
