In the last year the Canary Islands have become one of the most important Convention centers in Europe, especially the island of Tenerife and its capital city, Santa Cruz.
By the end of 2013, Tenerife will obtain around €90m. thanks to the 1,000 conferences that will be organized. These congresses will bring more than 10,000 visitors to the island.
Convention tourism is not just good and necessary for the economy, but it also allows local enterprises to work for that events. As a result, these conferences are creating new jobs (both direct and indirect), something very positive in Spain (a country with 27% of unemployment).
This success has been possible thanks the Tenerife Convention Bureau (TCB), who has been driving the Convention Sector since some years ago.
Opened to new countries
Next year Tenerife will hold an incentive trip for an enterprise located in Alaska. Due to this, the TCB hopes to bring new USA visitors to the island.
In addition to the United States, the TCB have an eye in other European countries as Russia, Denmark and the Eastern Europe.
