Due to Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress high attendance and impact, hotel price comparison website Trivago has conducted a study to monitor hotel occupancy during the event.
The main conclusion of this analysis is that hotels in Catalonia’s capital city show a 97% occupancy rate. Very few hotels can be booked through the Internet to visit the city during these days and, those available, offer above average rates around 400€ per night/room.
This average rate is markedly higher than those offered by Barcelona hotels during the rest of the month. Despite the last studies already show an increase in the average rate if compared to January, they are still around 122€, a quite lower data than that registered during the Congress.
This is obviously so, due to the increased demand which makes the price per room grow a 30% so that one star hotels cost as if they were three and so on.
