For the seventh year in a row Barcelona has reached the Congresses Cities Top 5 published by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). This year Barcelona has been considered the 4th most important convention destination and the 6th city with the best global brand.
The success of Barcelona is thanks to the 179 international congresses held in the city during 2013. The Mobile World Congress and the EIBTM have been those which have brought more benefits to the local and regional economy, besides international recognition.
However, this is not all. Last year other well-known conventions as the 16th edition of the European Supply Chain & Logistics Summit have helped Barcelona to reach the top. This congress took place in the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya and gathered multinational executives of several top brands as Nike, Renault, Unilever and Walt Disney.
In conclusion, in the last four years –the best for Barcelona in the Mice Tourism Sector-, the city has welcomed 519,159 congressmen, who attended 822 meetings.
